Industry is rife with ‘waste’ – but shift the perspective slightly and these can be highly valuable materials in their own right. Have you considered that (most of) the amino acid products in ag are made from animal and plant materials? That vinasse, the depleted molasses left over from yeast fermentation, is a rich source of carbon and other nutrients? Or that industrial chemicals and organic residues are routinely landfilled when they could instead be feeding sustainable, productive agriculture (and healthy profit margins!).

Some ‘wastes’ are ready to go as-is, needing only some characterisation work and the right positioning to bring them to market. Others require extraction or processing to unlock their potential as powerful biostimulant or nutrient-rich products.

I help deliver these projects from concept through to production, covering a wide range of waste materials and outcomes. Whether you've got an idea or hit a roadblock, reach out for an informal chat to discuss the way forward.

Some highlights from recent projects:

  • Amino acid liquid fertiliser from animal and plant waste

  • Biostimulant extraction using NADES solvents from a variety of industry organic residues

  • Pressurised liquid extraction of a variety of industry organic residues

  • Wood vinegar (a by-product of biochar production) characterisation

  • High-potassium liquid fertiliser from plant extraction waste
